Plant My Feet On Solid Ground

The Hebrews, unlike the Philistines or the Phoenicians, were people of the land, not of the sea. While we have lived near the ocean before moving to Nebraska, and appreciated it's beauty, I personally never cared to be on it too much. The Jewish people must have heard many stories about the ocean deep and knew of it's power. The psalm-writer relates it's dread during storms and how experienced sailors were brought to their wits' end and their seamanship was of little use during those "perfect storms." Our God, Who hears the distressed cry out in trouble, heard the mariners' cry, stilled the storm, quieted the waves, and ultimately guided these seamen to their desired haven. The emotions of the seamen as related in Psalm 107 can match those of somebody going through a period of trials. It brings comfort as the psalmist conveys God's hearing, guiding, calming and leading to the desired haven. What a wonderful expression, "desired haven." Eunice and I continually give thanks to the Lord for demonstrating such steady love and kindness. Many individuals continue to surprise us with their own particular acts of lovingkindness. We are humbled and grateful. Love in Christ, Pastor Chris

What a gift to read your words...daily. Thank you for keeping us as part of your life. We deeply miss you both and admire how you have wrapped your arms around our family even when you are so far away. We are counting the days until you return "home". You enrich our lives and we are wiser thanks to you. Brad is home and doing well. Truly has been a lesson on learning to crawl before we could learn to run. Our blessings go to you both and your family! Happy Holidays, Brad and Sharleen

I almost didn't know what day of the week it was! :)

Hope you had a good day today. You're missing out on our beautiful landscape of snow and icy-covered trees!

We continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers daily and miss you so very much. Thank you for words of wisdom -- Our Daily Bread just might call you to be a contributor!

Jackson wanted to sing Jingle Bells for you today, but he's all worn out from doing it the other day. :)

Sending our love and hugs,
Dave and Angi

Chris and Eunice, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and updates every day. I can't tell you what a testimony it is to see that you are being comforted by God's Word. Thank you for sharing what He is showing you.
I also look forward to reading a daily Advent devotional and this one really spoke to me. It made me think of what you have been "fleshing out" to us. I hope it minister to you as well.
"For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace."

Incarnate Word You came to set my captive thoughts free and to captivate my restless mind and anchor it in You. ( sure see you guys doing that)
Without You, my thoughts were entangled by the dictates of my flesh. They poisoned and polluted my life. My thoughts wer infused with the stench of death, corupted, decaying, marching steadily toward the grave. The power of death spread to cover every pursuit, every relationship, every dream.
Then You came. Softly. Barely a ripple in the course of mankind's doings, yet a rip that reverberated through the heavenly realms and changed the balance of power for all eternity. With a battle cry that sounded to earthly ears like a newborn baby's whimper, You set in motion my redemption. The sound heard in the heavens that first Christmas moment was a victory shout that rattled the enemy's forces and insured their defeat.
I was death's child, sin's slave. No future but the grave. A mind managed by my flesh. Until YOU.
"Jesus, than You for recasting my thoughts into the mold of Yours. ("But we have the mind of Christ", 1 Cor. 2:16) Teach me how to receive that gift in its fullness. Make me so moldable that You can transform my heart completely until its thoughts and intents are reflective of Your life in me, Your peace in me.
We love you guys. Barb and Gary

I never could understand why you guys picked McCook. (Don't worry that's not where this is going :) )
But mom said it was always the people that made the town. After being here, I couldn't agree more.

While I'm still juggeling names and faces, or what letter of the alphabet there house is on, your last sentence really applies to me and Bess too.

I can't tell you guys how great people have been to us since we have been here. I can't keep up with the thank you cards. They continue to surprise us with they acts of lovingkindness too. (dad are you sure that's one word!?)

We love you and CAN'T WAIT to see you on CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. Bethany did a great job tonight. Best one. Not just saying that cuz she's my sister lol.
P.s.s. Sorry about the novel.

I ment to say "their" in the second paragraph. Sorry, if I didn't write this to correct it, it would have bugged me. OCD much?
